I was in India on business in the recent past, and several of us went out to eat one evening. A brief conversation regarding guns came up (I think it was related to all of the guards at our business who had guns). One of the comments that was made by one of our Indian friends was something like “I don’t see why anyone would feel the need to own a gun, they just cause trouble”. At the time, conversation quickly moved on to something else before I could respond. But should this topic come up in the future, my response would be, “Imagine how many lives would have been saved in Mumbai if citizens were allowed to carry concealed weapons and had been able to use them to defend themselves.”
